[Watch Live] Avon Lake Bald Eagle Cam: Baby Eagles Ready to Fly Soon

Three bald eagle eggs in a tree near Redwood Elementary School in Avon Lake have hatched. Check out the live stream on Patch!

Update 6/7: It's been a long time since Patch has checked in on the eagles of Redwood Elementary School and the eaglets are almost unrecognizable. The two baby eagles born to parents Stars and Stripes have grown up fast before the eyes of Avon Lake residents. They started out as cute little furballs, then they went through some awkward-looking puberty time and now they look almost full-grown. All the eagles are missing is the signature bald eagle look of white head feathers.

Patch is checking in on the eagles because it may soon be time for them to fly the coop. The eaglets were born almost two months ago in April and bald eagles take their first flights nine to 10 weeks after birth, according to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. You won't want to miss it, so start checking out the live stream on Patch again.

They grow up so fast!

Three bald eagle eggs in a tree near Redwood Elementary School hatched in April. The first eaglet appeared on Wednesday, and was soon joined by a sibling on Friday. But it wasn't until Monday, when the third eaglet emerged from its egg, that the nest was full.

In a sad development, the third eaglet born to the Avon Lake went missing on April 18. The eaglet had not been spotted in the nest and school officials released a statement that they believe the eaglet may have died. According to school officials, bald eagles usually lay two eggs, and in most cases where there are three eggs the third doesn't hatch or the eaglet doesn't survive. The remaining two eaglets were fine.

The live stream mostly features footage of proud parents Stars and Stripes sitting on their roost. There's also what appears to be fish in the nest, so it may be feeding time soon; you won't want to miss that.

Never miss catching a glimpse of all three baby eagles by staying tuned to the live stream above.
