AVON LAKE, OH — Avon Lake may soon have some new residents. A pair of bald eagles who nest near Redwood Elementary School have laid an egg, which may soon become an eaglet. The school has set up a live video feed for families to watch the eagle family.

The adult eagles — who students at Redwood named Stars and Stripes — will likely lay additional eggs in the coming days. Over the past few years, the bald eagles have laid and hatched several eggs.

In 2019, Stars and Stripes added three eggs to their nest between Feb. 28 and March 6. The first eaglet broke out of its shell on April 8. This year, the first egg was laid March 1, at about 5 p.m., according to an Avon Lake Schools spokesperson.
