Winter Market Benefits Crisis Center For Kids In Lorain County

The Blessing House, a crisis care center for children, will receive a portion of the proceeds from the upcoming Winter Market.

LORAIN, OH — The upcoming Winter Market events will give a portion of their proceeds to Blessing House, a children's crisis care center. Earlier this year, Blessing House launched a $3.3 million campaign to fund an expansion.

“Children and families are at the very heart of all we do at Blessing House. The need to expand is real. The number of families who are in crisis mode and who need us is increasing. It’s a blessing to be an extended family to them when they need it most. Blessing House is truly God’s Project of Hope,” said Sister Mary Berigan.

To boost Blessing House's fundraising campaign, the Shipyards Winter Market is donating a portion of this weekend's proceeds to the fundraiser. Markets will be held Friday, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (admission is $5), and Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (admission is $2). Guests will be able to purchase hand-made arts and crafts at the event, which will be held at the Shipyards, 485 California Avenue, Lorain.

“Girls Give Back was founded because two women wanted to make a change in the lives of people in need. Through our projects and random acts of kindness we have been able to touch the lives of several individuals and families who needed us most. When we visited Blessing House for the first time, we were immediately touched by Sr.Mary and Donna Humphrey’s passion for helping families in need. Two women on the same mission, to make this world a better place by serving those in need,” said Erin Stack, co-founder of Girls Give Back, which operates the Winter Market.
