Woman Breaks Into Avon Lake Home, Leaves Clothes In Backyard

Police took a woman into custody after she broke into a home in Avon Lake.

AVON LAKE, OH — An Avon Lake family arrived home and found someone else's property inside their home and scattered in their backyard, police said.

On July 23, police were sent to a home on South Point Drive. The residents reported someone had broken into their home.

Officers found a bag of clothes and other personal effects in the residents' home and in their backyard, which the residents said did not belong to them. Police searched the backyard and the home and found no one.

One of the items found in the home had the suspect's name on it, according to police reports.

With the help of witnesses, police identified the suspect and found her near the home and took her into custody. The suspect, a 45-year-old Avon Lake woman, has been accused of breaking and entering.

Police said it is not yet clear why the woman broke into the home.

The suspect also had outstanding warrants with other police departments.

The case was filed with Avon Lake Municipal Court on July 27. The suspect will make her first appearance in court on Tuesday.

A second suspect has also been identified in the case, police said.
