AVON LAKE, OH — A woman accused of hitting and killing a bicyclist in Avon Lake has pleaded guilty to charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, operating a vehicle impaired and failing to stop after an accident.
Sharan Carr, 65, will be arraigned on Jan. 10, 2020. Some of her charges were reduced as part of a plea deal, according to Fox 8.
On June 6, Richard "Randy" Knilans was bicycling down Lake Road, near the Avon Lake-Sheffield Lake border, when he was hit by a car. Police found him on the sidewalk and had him flown to MetroHealth Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The car that hit Knilans did not stop at the scene, police said after the crash. Carr was later identified as the suspected driver and taken into custody by police. She was initially charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, failure to stop after a crash, failure to use reasonable control and operating a vehicle under the influence.
"We would ... like to express our sincere heartfelt condolences to the victim's family members for their tragic loss," Avon Lake Police Sgt. Reed Reikowski said after Carr was initially taken into custody this summer.
