10 Cars Broken Into In Beachwood Over The Weekend

BEACHWOOD, OH — Police are looking for a person or persons that broke into 10 cars over the weekend. The suspect went through the vehicles and stole items from a handful of the cars. The incidents took place at hotels around the city.

License Suspension, Oct. 6 — Police arrested a driver at Beachwood Place Mall for cruising with a suspended license. The driver also had an active warrant for their arrest with Beachwood Police. Officers had the driver's car towed.

Theft of Government Property, Oct. 6 — The Beachwood Service Department noticed something odd on Friday. Someone stole 10 grabber cones (tall, orange, skinny cones) from a construction site on Chagrin Boulevard, near Stratton Road. Police did not say if there are any suspects.

Criminal Damage, Oct. 7 — While parked at the Aloft Hotel, 1010 Eaton Blvd., someone smashed a window on a man's car.

Criminal Damage, Oct. 7 — That same night, someone also smashed a window out on a woman's car. That vehicle was also parked at the Aloft Hotel.

Criminal Damage, Oct. 7 — A third car had its window broken in at the Aloft on Saturday night. This time, police said, the suspect(s) stole some personal items from the vehicle. The items are valued at about $1,200.

Criminal Damage, Oct. 7 — In the fourth incident of an apparent window smashing spree, someone broke in a man's car window while the vehicle was parked at Aloft. Personal items were again stolen from the car. Those items were worth $45.

Improper License Plates, Oct. 7 — Police cited a man driving on Shaker Blvd. for having fake registration for his car.

Expired License Plates, Oct. 7 — Police stopped a driver for expired license plates. The driver also had a suspended license.

Shoplifting, Oct. 7 — Two boys were arrested for shoplifting from stores at Beachwood Place Mall. Between the two, they were found with $263 of merchandise.

Criminal Damage, Oct. 8 — In the continuation of a sad trend, three vehicles were broken into Sunday while they were parked at Homewood Suites, 25725 Central Pkwy.

Criminal Damage, Oct. 8 — Officers weren't done responding to thefts from cars on Sunday. Police were called to the Doubletree Hotel, 3663 Park East, because three cars had their windows broken out and gone through. One car had $240 of items taken from it. Evidence was collected at the scene, police said.

Criminal Damage, Oct. 8 — A hotel guest at the Homewood Suites told police someone had attempted to break into his rental car. The vehicle suffered about $500 of damage.
