$4,000 Fraudulently Charged To Beachwood Man

An identity thief took advantage of a Beachwood man. Plus, police find weed in a suspect's car and an 8-year-old bites his mom.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Police had a busy, strange week in Beachwood. Officers dealt with a toothy 8-year-old that took a chunk out of his mom, a suspect with a burnt marijuana cigarette just sitting in the center console of their car, and, most dangerously, a resident whose identity was stolen and used to make thousands in fraudulent purchases.

License Suspension, Aug. 28 —After a car accident on Richmond Road, a man was arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Juvenile Complaints, Aug. 28 — Police were called to an incident on E. Baintree for reports of an out-of-control 8-year-old. The little boy apparently bit his mother on the arm. The woman refused medical treatment for the bite.

Juvenile Complaints, Aug. 28 — A Beachwood resident contacted police to report that his 13-year-old daughter is being harassed online by a cyber bully.

Suspicion, Aug. 28 —Police detained four men at Beachwood Place Mall, 26500 Cedar Rd., during a bad check investigation. One of the men was cited for a parking in a handicapped spot.

Suspicion, Aug. 29 — An employee at Beachwood Pointe Rehab, 23900 Chagrin Blvd., reported that her ex-boyfriend has been calling her at her place of work.

Warrant Served, Aug. 29 — A man wanted in Shaker Heights Municipal Court turned himself in at Beachwood Police Station.

Suspicion, Aug. 29 — An employee at Nordstrom at Beachwood Place Mall reported hearing gunshots in the mall parking lot.

Identity Theft, Aug. 29 — A Beachwood resident contacted police and said their identity and personal information had been used to take out credit cards. The person impersonating the resident then racked up $3,324 in fraudulent charges.

Suspicious Person, Aug. 30 — Someone used a Beachwood resident's photo without their permission on a website.

Marijuana Possession, Aug. 30 — Police stopped a car speeding through the Fairmount School Zone, 24601 Fairmount. The driver had a suspended license and his vehicle was ordered to be towed. While inventorying the vehicle, police found a burnt marijuana cigarette in the center console. At that point, the driver was arrested.

Shoplifting, Aug. 30 — A resident at a youth group home stole a cell phone from the Microsoft store at Beachwood Place Mall.

Criminal Simulation, Aug. 30 — A man used fraudulent money to make a $450 purchase at Nordstrom.

Theft from Building, Aug. 31 — About $50 was stolen from the Beachwood Adult Activities Center, 23750 Mercantile Rd.

Harassing Communication, Aug. 31 — An ex-boyfriend is send harassing messages via text and phone call to a woman.

License Suspension, Aug. 31 — Police stopped a car on Chagrin Blvd. for having tinted windows. The driver had a suspended license and an active warrant for her arrest through Willoughby Hills Police.
