Today's riddle: What has a cap but no head? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Data Breaches Announced by Saber Healthcare & Buchalter (hipaajournal.com) — Beachwood-based Saber Healthcare is notifying patients and others after discovering unauthorized access to one of its computer servers this summer, potentially exposing names plus data like Social Security numbers, medical details, and financial information. The company says it quickly secured systems, hired cybersecurity experts, and has no evidence of misuse but urges people to watch for identity theft. Two unrelated healthcare data incidents in California and Indiana are also detailed.
2. CVC Players of the Week: Sept. 21-27, 2026 (chagrinvalleyconference.com) — Beachwood readers can cheer junior golfer Liav Perez, who shot a 79 at sectionals to qualify individually for the district tournament at Windmill Lakes. He's one of 19 Chagrin Valley Conference athletes honored for standout performances in golf, football, soccer, volleyball, cross country, and tennis during the week of Sept. 21–27.
3. Wanted man arrested, hospitalized after causing trouble at Red Roof Inn in Middleburg Heights (cleveland.com) — Police say a 59-year-old Beachwood man with multiple Parma warrants was arrested in Middleburg Heights after allegedly causing problems at a Red Roof Inn and then struggling with officers. During transport he reportedly threatened self-harm and injured himself, prompting paramedics to take him to Southwest General. The case underscores how incidents involving Beachwood residents can unfold across nearby suburbs' police jurisdictions.
4. Euclid to receive $900,000 in state funding for capital projects (cleveland.com) — State Rep. Eric Synenberg, whose district includes Beachwood, has announced $900,000 in state capital funding for nearby Euclid, highlighting ongoing competition among Northeast Ohio communities for these dollars. He'll present the check and give a state government update at a Euclid town hall Tuesday evening, a chance for Beachwood-area residents to hear how capital budget decisions may affect local projects and infrastructure.
