Sydell Miller Awarded Cleveland Clinic's Highest Honor for Her Commitment to Organization's Cardiovascular Programs

Sydell Miller was recently honored by Cleveland Clinic for her commitment to the organization’s cardiovascular programs.  She was named a Cleveland Clinic Distinguished Fellow, the highest lifetime honor bestowed upon select individuals who have made extraordinary contributions of service and resources to further the mission of Cleveland Clinic.

The Distinguished Fellow award was established in 1971 to celebrate Cleveland Clinic’s 50^th anniversary and is conferred by the Board of Trustees.

To recognize her dedication, the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Pavilion was named in her family’s honor upon opening in 2008.  The building, home to the Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart & Vascular Institute, commemorates the entrepreneurial spirit of the Millers who founded the nation’s largest manufacturer of professional beauty products.

With her daughters, Mrs. Miller was an Honorary Chair of the Today’s Innovations, Tomorrow’s Healthcare campaign, and with her daughters, has made numerous gifts to fund healthcare at Cleveland Clinic.

While serving on the Board of Trustees since 2006, Mrs. Miller become part of the 1921 Society and the Medallion Society, a group whose members have helped to secure cardiovascular care with gifts of $1 million or more.

A Florida Leadership Council member, Mrs. Miller advocates on behalf of the organization’s priorities.  She was instrumental in bringing care to West Palm Beach, Florida, and was recognized with the first Sydell Miller Award at the 2011 Cleveland Clinic Florida Ball.
