Another Arrested Person Briefly Escapes Police Custody

For the second time in one month, Beachwood Police gave an arrested person a medical furlough and the suspect briefly left police custody.

BEACHWOOD, OH — For the second time in about one month, a suspect briefly escaped police custody in Beachwood. The department said the suspect was on medical furlough and didn't come back to jail.

The arrested man was released from Beachwood Jail on a medical furlough on Friday. The man failed to return to the jail after he was released, so police went looking for him. The man was captured at the Aloft Hotel the same day he was supposed to return to Beachwood Jail.

In mid-July, an arrested woman on police-granted medical leave at Ahuja Medical Center left the facility without checking with police. The woman was on the lam for only about 30 minutes, according to police records obtained by Patch.

Indecent Exposure, August 9 — A man was arrested for indecent exposure at Beachwood Place Mall, police said.

Shoplifting, August 9 — A juvenile was arrested for stealing about $565 of merchandise from Dillard's. Police recovered the stolen merchandise.

License Suspension, August 10 — Police stopped a car on Shaker Boulevard because the registered driver had a suspended driver's license. The driver was arrested and the car was towed from the scene, police said.

Menacing, August 11 — A staffer at Park East Healthcare reported that a patient threatened to hit her.

OVI, August 11 — A little before 2 a.m., a car refused to yield while pulling out of a private driveway on Chagrin Boulevard, police said. The car was pulled over and the driver was arrested for driving impaired. He refused to take a breath test.
