Beachwood Community Center Suspends All Programming Indefinitely
The Beachwood Community Center has not hosted public programming since mid-March.
BEACHWOOD, OH — All programs at the Beachwood Community Center will be suspended indefinitely. The facility has not had any public programming since mid-March due to the new coronavirus.
Programming at the facility was originally suspended through May 22, so city officials decided to extend the moratorium on public programs.
"So many of the participants are higher risk," a city spokesperson told Patch. "We're hoping one day this will lift and we'll throw a big party at the community center. Until then, we have to keep everyone safe."

The Beachwood Family Aquatic Center will also be closed through the summer, Mayor Martin Horwitz announced this week. He said he was concerned about the spread of the new coronavirus and the city's ability to protect residents and staff at the facility.
"This is a painful decision to make. We recognize that the Family Aquatic Center is one of the many reasons that Beachwood is a great place to live, work and raise a family. We know it helps build a strong sense of community. Unfortunately, the risks associated with opening the pool are not acceptable during the pandemic," Horwitz said in a statement.
