Beachwood Creating Fund, Flag Program For First Responders
Residents and businesses in Beachwood can buy flags to support Beachwood police and fire.
BEACHWOOD, OH — Since the start of the new coronavirus outbreak, first responders have put their lives on the line to protect Ohioans and keep basic services running. To honor their courage and sacrifice, the city of Beachwood is unveiling a a show of flags recognizing front line workers, and creating a fund to aid first responders.
The city is partnering with the nonprofit Beachwood 100 on the display of flags. Residents and businesses can participate in the display. The program will lead to the creation of a COVID-19 fund which will provide financial support to Beachwood police and fire department employees, or their families, who are impacted by the virus.
“Our Beachwood safety forces continue to put themselves on the front lines of this pandemic, and their safety and mental health is of utmost importance to the residents and individuals who live and work in this great city,” said Ivor Kiwi, board president of Beachwood 100. “This also provides an opportunity for residents and businesses to help people who are helping them. To date, I am grateful to report that no staff members have tested positive.”
