Beachwood Fire Department Flushing Hydrants

The flushing will take place Sept. 26 through Oct. 1.

BEACHWOOD, OH - The city is advising residents that if they notice any rusty water coming from their tap this week, they should run the cold water until it becomes clear. The city also said the water is safe to drink.

The rusty water is a result of the fire department flushing fire hydrants throughout the city. Because the department only flushes the hydrants twice a year, rusted water can sometimes sit in the tanks. The department will start flushing on Sept. 26 and conclude Oct. 1.

If you notice rusty water coming from your sink, you should run the fawcet closest to your water meter for a few minutes on cold. That should clear the water up. Do not run the hot water, because the rusty water coudl enter your hot water tank. If the rusty water persists, contact the Fire Department.
