Beachwood High Alum Gets Award From Ohio College
Youngstown State University awards scholarships to first-year students.

BEACHWOOD, OH - From Youngstown State University: Youngstown State University has recognized more than 300 first-year students with Martin Luther King Merit Awards and/or Trailblazer Scholarships.
The following local YSU students are recipients:
Marquae Calhoun of Warrensville Heights, OH, was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Calhoun is a Lutheran East High School graduate and a Undetermined HHS major at YSU.

Nylauna Petty of Beachwood, OH, was awarded a Trailblazer Scholarship. Petty is a Beachwood High School graduate and a Pre Nursing major at YSU.
The MLK Merit Award is a $1,000 merit-based award for new high school graduates of local inner-city schools, and the Trailblazer Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship for freshmen that aims to encourage outstanding students from diverse backgrounds.
