Beachwood Police Deal with Only 1 Shoplifter, New Mall Guidelines Appear to Work

Following a massive dust-up around the holidays, Beachwood Place Mall instituted new rules for juvenile shoppers.

BEACHWOOD, OH - Police were only called to one incident at Beachwood Place Mall over the weekend. Following a brouhaha near Christmas, the mall instituted new curfew and parental accompaniment guidelines. It appears the decision to change how the mall is policed may be working.

Vandalism, Jan. 13 - Someone vandalized a golf cart in the Deville North Apartments, 23351 Chagrin Boulevard. A door to the party room was kicked in and there was debris scattered across the floor.

Driving Under Suspension, Jan. 13 - Police arrested a man for driving with a suspended license. They recorded him speeding near Richmond and Cedar roads. Whey they stopped him, they realized his license had been suspended. They towed his car.

Threatening, Jan. 13 - Someone made a threatening phone call to Menorah Park, 27100 Cedar Road.

Theft from Building, Jan. 14 - A man reported that money was stolen from his wallet while he was at Lifetime Fitness, 3850 Richmond Road.

Shoplifting, Jan. 14 - Beachwood Place Mall security banned a woman for allegedly trying to steal merchandise from the Sunglasses Hut. The woman was trying to steal property worth $425.

Suspicion, Jan. 14 - More drama at Lifetime Fitness. This time, an employee reported a former coworker as acting strangely. Police took a report on the strange behavior.

Disturbance, Jan. 15 - Police helped evict a guest at the Clarion Hotel, 26300 Chagrin Boulevard, for being too loud.

Body Found, Jan. 15 - A 97-year-old woman was found dead in her Cedar Road home. A home health care worker made the discovery.
