Best Cities To Live In: 3 Ohio Towns Make List

24/7 Wall St. recently released its 2020 rankings of the best cities to live in throughout the nation.

BEACHWOOD, OH — It’s always nice to receive a little positive recognition.

The financial news and opinion site 24/7 Wall St. recently released its “America’s 50 Best Cities To Live” rankings for 2020, and 3 Ohio cities took home a spot on the list.

New Albany

  • Ranking: 25
  • Population: 10,896
  • Five-year population change: +33.9%
  • Median household income: $203,194
  • Five-year average unemployment rate: 3.9%

Here's what 24/7 Wall St. said about New Albany: "New Albany is one of the fastest growing cities in Ohio. In the last five years, the number of people living in New Albany increased by over a third. Located less than 20 miles northeast of Columbus, New Albany residents are in commuting distance to jobs in and around the state capital — and many of those jobs are high paying."

Dover

  • Ranking: 30
  • Population: 12,811
  • Five-year population change: -0.1%
  • Median household income: $52,875
  • Five-year average unemployment rate: 4.4%

Here's what 24/7 Wall St. said about Dover: "Dover, Ohio is one of the most affordable cities in the country. The typical area home is worth $125,500, well below the national median home value of $204,900 and just 2.4 times more than the $53,875 median household income in the city"

Beachwood

  • Ranking: 32
  • Population: 11,704
  • Five-year population change: -1.5%
  • Median household income: $89,706
  • Five-year average unemployment rate: 2.7%

24/7 Wall St. praised Beachwood's dense offerings of bars, restaurants and hang-outs for residents. The city was also recognized for its suburban setting, but easy proximity to museums, movie theaters and other entertainment options.

Manhattan Beach, California, ranked as the best city in the nation to live in, according to 24/7 Wall St., followed by Winnetka, Illinois, and Hanover, New Hampshire.

“It is important to note that there is no such thing as a perfect city or town, and that many of the attributes one may look for in a community are subjective and not quantifiable,” authors of the 24/7 Wall St. rankings wrote. “This list favors areas with conditions that have almost universal appeal, however.”

To identify the best U.S. cities to live in, the financial news site created an index of 25 measures across four main categories: affordability, economy, quality of life and community.

Data pertaining to these categories was then pulled from multiple sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The full methodology for the rankings is available at 24/7 Wall St.

  10. Greenwood Village, Colorado
