Boys' Soccer Starts Season With 6-0 Win Over Benedictine
Bison out-shoot Bengals 29-3 in lopsided victory
boys' soccer team kept the pressure on Benedictine today, scoring on a plethora of opportunities in a 6-0 shutout to start the season off strong. The Bison kept the pressure on as the Bengals only mounted six shots — three on goal — for the game.
“We had our opportunities, we just couldn’t get it past their defense,” Benedictine head coach Mike Perez said.
Beachwood freshman Michael Dreka scored the first goal of his career and Beachwood’s season nine minutes into the contest when Benedictine’s freshman keeper Aaron Davis mishandled the ball and Dreka capitalized. Matt Levine scored 15 minutes later, then Dreka again, putting the Bison up 3-0 with 7:04 left in the half.

Jared Seidel struck four minutes into the second half for the Bison with a beautiful chip that arced perfectly over Davis and into the center of the net. Daniel Rodriguez and Kaveh Varghai added Beachwood’s final two goals.
Benedictine’s Davis played well in his first-ever game at keeper, despite the six goals. He saved 10 of Beachwood’s 29 shots on goal.
“He has a lot of the intangibles,” Perez said. “He’s going to have some growing pains but I hope by the middle of the season he’ll put it all together.”
Beachwood looks for their second win with another home game Thursday, Aug. 25, against Bedford at 5 p.m.
