Caller Thwarts Would-Be Thief In Beachwood

A resident saw someone trying to break into their car and called police, stopping the would-be thief.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Police had a busy weekend in Beachwood. They nearly caught a person breaking into a resident's car, after the resident spotted the would-be thief and contacted officers. The suspect fled before police arrived.

Larceny, June 22 — A woman was arrested for stealing $80 of merchandise from Sephora at Beachwood Place Mall. The woman was under the age of 18, according to police reports.

Missing Person, June 22 — Police were called to an apartment on South Green Road on early Friday morning for a report of a missing, endangered man. The man had reportedly taken a car, without permission, and then disappeared. Luckily, the man was found later and taken to a hospital, police said.

Improper License Plates, June 22 — A car was stopped on Cedar Road for driving with fake license plates. The driver was cited and the car was towed from the scene.

Trespassing, June 22 — A caller on Belvoir Boulevard reported that someone was breaking into her car. The suspect fled before police arrived.

Trespassing, June 22 — Officers arrested a woman at Beachwood Place Mall for trespassing and then resisting arrest.

Receiving Stolen Property, June 22 — Police stopped a car on Halburton Drive because its license plates were stolen from another vehicle. The driver was arrested for receiving stolen property and driving with a suspended license.

Disturbance, June 23 — Police were called to the Embassy Suites for reports of a disturbance.

Fraud, June 23 — Someone opened a T-Mobile account in a resident's name. The resident didn't give anyone permission to do that.

OVI, June 23 — Police stopped on car near the Chagrin Boulevard exit on I-271. The driver was arrested for driving impaired and the car was towed from the scene.
