Council to Hear Hot-Button Issues Tonight

Meeting includes public hearing, vote about Chagrin Boulevard, parking presentation from Menorah Park

City Council will address two hot-button issues at tonight’s meeting: Chagrin Boulevard zoning amendment and parking plans for Menorah Park.

City Council will hear resident comments about and is expected to vote on an ordinance that would allow . 

Namely, the ordinance’s passage would allow a hotel and two stand-alone restaurants to be built at Signature Square, a parcel originally zoned for office space. Residents of adjacent Halburton Road who oppose the idea say that the hotel could bring noise and light pollution and traffic to their street.

Menorah Park to improve parking on the campus — which includes Menorah Park Senior Living, The Montefiore Home and Wiggins Place — on Cedar Road.

In December Council that it would not approve zoning exemptions for any building on campus until steps were taken to improve its parking. The facility contracted a study that concluded that, though the facility meets city parking requirements, its spaces are well under the ideal number for the facility.

Last month, Wiggins Place requested approval from Planning and Zoning for a carport in their parking lot, also on the Menorah Park campus, and the commission told representatives to bring someone from Menorah Park to council tonight to present a parking plan. Council must approve the carport before it can be built.
