Dead Person's Handicapped Placard Used At Beachwood Mall

Police confiscated a handicapped placard from a shopper at Beachwood Place Mall. The placard belonged to a dead person.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Officers cited a person for making use of a dead person's handicapped placard over the weekend. The handicapped placard was being used to secure a parking spot at Beachwood Place Mall. Police confiscated the placard and wrote a citation for the person making use of it.

Warrant Served, Aug. 18 — Police arrested a man on Transportation Boulevard for failure to appear on a Shaker Heights Municipal Court warrant.

Parking Violation, Aug. 18 — A patron at Beachwood Place Mall, 26200 Cedar Rd., parked in a handicapped spot. However, the placard inside the car did not belong to the patron. The placard belonged to a dead person. Police cited the patron and confiscated the placard.

Criminal Investigation, Aug. 18 — A man wanted in Macedonia was arrested at Beachwood Place Mall on Friday. The man was found with a bevy of prescription pills. Police are investigating the pills and why the man had them.

Suspicion, Aug. 18 — Someone used information from a doctor at Beachwood Plastic Surgery and Medical Spa, 3618 Park East, to get prescriptions filled.

Marijuana Possession, Aug. 18 — Officers arrested a woman for shoplifting from Sephora at Beachwood Place Mall. The woman tried to get away with $62 of merchandise. Police found marijuana in the woman's possession and charged her with shoplifting and possession of marijuana.

Shoplifting, Aug. 18 — Two men were arrested for shoplifting from Dillard's at Beachwood Place Mall. The men tried to steal $64.50 worth of merchandise.

Disturbance, Aug. 19 — A customer at Infiniti of Beachwood, 25900 Central Prkwy., became irate and created a ruckus at the car dealership. Police were called to the scene but the customer was gone before officers arrived.

Suspicion, Aug. 19 — Staff at the Beachwood Community Center called police when a group of individuals were spotted plucking flowers from the flowerbeds outside the facility. Police arrived and broke the group up, telling them to depart the premises.

Theft from Building, Aug. 19 — A man told police that a large sum of cash had been stolen from his hotel room at the Aloft Hotel, 1010 Eaton Blvd.

Theft from Building, Aug. 20 — A man reported that $100 was stolen from his locker at Lifetime Fitness, 3850 Richmond Rd.

Theft from Auto, Aug. 20 — A patron at the Hotel Indigo, 3581 Park East, reported that items were stolen from their vehicle while parked in the hotel lot.

License Suspension, Aug. 20 — An officer on patrol stopped a man for using an electronic device while driving. The driver had a suspended license. He was cited and his vehicle was towed.

Disorderly Conduct, Aug. 20 — Police were called to Beachwood Place Mall to break up a disturbance in the food court. One of the parties invovled had an active warrant with Cleveland Heights Police and was taken into custody. The other party involved was cited with disorderly conduct and criminal trespassing.

Marijuana Possession, Aug. 20 — While on patrol, an officer stopped a car for driving without illumination on its rear license plate. When approaching the vehicle, the officer smelled an odor of marijuana. A small baggie of weed was found in the glove box of the vehicle. The female driver of the car was cited for possession of marijuana and given a warning for rear plate illumination.
