Free Meals For Hungry Cleveland Kids During Winter Break

Many children rely on schools to provide nutritious meals. With school out for the holidays, local civic groups are stepping up.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Free meals will be provided to children that may go have otherwise gone hungry with schools on winter break. The Winter Break Lunch Program will provide nutritious meals to kids Dec. 26-Dec. 28.

The program is the result of a partnership between the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, Dollar Bank and the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. Besides providing meals for kids, participants in the program will also be given a safe space to play, make crafts, and receive a holiday gift.

“Eating three meals a day is something many of us take for granted. Unfortunately, some of our Cleveland community is not so lucky,” said Stephanie Wieder, the Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Network Chair. “Through our Winter Break Lunch Program and the dedication of many volunteers, we are able to serve hundreds of meals to Cleveland children and brighten their holiday season.”
