Man Caught Shoplifting at Beachwood Store Lies About Identity

BEACHWOOD, OH - Police caught a man trying to steal more than $200 worth of merchandise from Marshall's on Jan. 10. The man lied about his identity and was carrying criminal tools on his person. He was charged with shoplifting and obstructing official business. That and other incidents in this week's police blotter.

Animal, Jan. 9 - Police dispatched an injured deer on Chagrin Boulevard near Signature Square I.

Theft from Building, Jan. 10 - A woman reported that her cell phone was stolen from Western Reserve Vision, 3733 Park East.

Shoplifting, Jan. 10 - An adult man lied to police about his identity after he was caught trying to steal merchandise from Marshall's Department Store, 24065 Chagrin Blvd. The man also had criminal tools on him. The value of the merchandise was $233.99.

Larceny, Jan. 11 - A pair of forks were stolen from a forklift that was in the parking lot of the Fairfield Inn, 3750 Orange Pl. The forks are valued at $450.

Suspicion, Jan. 11 - Management at the Hamptons Building, 27050 Cedar Rd., found a bag of what they believe is marijuana in their dumpster. The owner of the bag has not been identified.

Shoplifting, Jan. 12 - The owner of a temporary kiosk at Beachwood Place Mall, 26300 Cedar Rd., reported that someone stole sports memorabilia from his cart. The items taken are valued at $7,100.

Fraud, Jan. 12 - Someone has repeatedly called and tried to access a Beachwood resident's bank accounts. None of the attempts were successful and no money was taken.
