Man Tries To Steal Incontinence Pullups, Gown from Elderly Patient: Beachwood Police

The would-be thief got caught after he got into a fight with another man in the parking lot of a rehab facility.

BEACHWOOD, OH - Police frequently deal with shoplifters at Beachwood Place Mall. Most of those incidents are teenagers trying to snatch makeup from Sephora or clothes from one of the myriad clothing stores at the mall. This week things were different. Police dealt with a man who tried to steal incontinence pullups and a gown from an elderly patient at a local rehabilitation facility. Read on for more details.

Suspicion, Feb. 10 - A resident of the Atrium in the Village apartments reported to police that they received a threatening text message.

Disorderly Conduct, Feb. 10 - Police were called to Sulgrave Road, near Wimbeldon Road, for reports of a fight. When police arrived they ended up arresting an adult male and a juvenile male for the brouhaha.

Shoplifting, Feb. 10 - Sephora at the mall, 26300 Cedar Rd., was the site of a shoplifting incident. Police arrested a juvenile female for trying to get away with $292 worth of merchandise.

OVI, Feb. 11 - Police stopped a man for speeding on Chagrin Boulevard. The man was also swerving between marked lanes and failed to signal his turns. The driver had a previous OVI and was arrested for speeding and for OVI.

Warrant Served, Feb. 11 - Beachwood Police picked up a female that is wanted in Shaker Heights Municipal Court. The woman was arrested by Mentor Police.

Suspension, Feb. 12 - Police arrested an adult male for driving with a suspended license. The man was stopped and arrested near Chagrin Boulevard.

Theft from Building, Feb. 12 - If you're stealing property, don't get into a fight with the guy you're selling the stolen goods to. Police were called to Beachwood Pointe Rehabilitation, 23900 Chagrin Blvd., for a report of two men brawling. When they arrived, they found that one of the two males was attempting to steal incontinence pullups and a gown from an elderly patient's room. The other man in the fight was arrested when police found stolen meat from Giant Eagle in his car. The value of the recovered merchandise is a little more than $66.
