New Exhibit Will Open Friday at Maltz

Contemporary works come from unlikely collection

A never-been-public exhibit opening Friday comes to the from an unlikely place: Progressive Insurance Company.

“About the Right of Being Different” is a multimedia collection that began in the company’s Cleveland headquarters in 1974 and has since grown to include more than 7,500 works in Progressive offices across the nation, and a full-time staff manages the collection.

“People instantly recognize Progressive as an auto insurance giant and now by their ad icon, ‘Flo,’ but even in their home town few realize that they are a major patron of the arts with a cutting-edge art program they use to spark dialogue and interaction,” Judi Feniger, Maltz Museum’s executive director, said in a press release.
