New Eye Clinic Opens In Beachwood

Beachwood Family Eye Care held a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 29 and will have a grand opening celebration on Saturday.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Dr. Jennifer Thatcher's new optometry clinic, Beachwood Family Eye Clinic, had its ribbon cutting on June 29. The business will have a grand opening celebration on Saturday. Thatcher took a winding road to opening her own optometry clinic in Beachwood.

Her journey started at Case Western Reserve University, where she actually studied computer engineering. She spent a few years toiling away as a systems and software engineer before hearing the distinct call of the healthcare industry.

She went to University of California Berkeley School of Optometry (UCBSO), where she obtained a doctorate in optometry. The West Coast would not fit her as a long-term home, she told Patch.

"I always knew I wanted to return to Cleveland," she said. "I always had plans to return and open my business here."

So she returned to Northeast Ohio and spent time doing contract work for other optometry firms. When she was ready, she opened her brick-and-mortar clinic at 3783 S. Green Rd. in Beachwood.

"I personally reside in Beachwood. It’s a family-oriented community and I wanted to open a practice in the community and have an impact here," she said.

Thatcher said Saturday's grand opening celebration will feature bounce houses, prize giveaways, and other kid friendly activities. The event will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. More information can be found on the event by clicking here.
