New Memorial Honors 6 Millions Jews Killed In Holocaust
The service will be held in front of the Holocaust Memorial Monument, which was built by Kol Israel members and dedicated in 1961.
From The Jewish Federation of Cleveland:During the Jewish High Holy Days, the Kol Israel Foundation and Jewish Federation of Cleveland will honor and commemorate the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. The 56th annual Fall Memorial Service will be on Sunday, September 24 at 2:00 pm at Zion Memorial Park (5461 Northfield Road, Bedford Heights). The service will be held in front of the Holocaust Memorial Monument, which was built by Kol Israel members and dedicated in 1961.
This is an especially important year for the Kol Israel Foundation’s Monument as they dedicate a Historical Marker awarded by the Ohio History Connection. The Monument is the first of its kind in the nation.
“We want to carry on the legacy of those who perished in the Holocaust and make sure it is never forgotten,” said Mark Frank, who joins Avi Goldman as Event Co-Chairs. “The Monument is a special place for many survivors; there aren't that many left, and every day there are less. Many of them are buried here. It's emotional.”
