New Year's Eve Brings Drunk Drivers to Beachwood

Police arrested at least two people for reckless, drunk driving over the holiday.

BEACHWOOD, OH - New Year's Eve is a well-known drinking holiday. Beachwood Police had their hands full dealing with intoxicated motorists and other incidents over the holiday weekend.

Disabled Motor Vehicle, Dec. 30 - Police found a car broken down near I-271 and Woodland Avenue. The driver was not in the car, but there was damage to the front right portion of the vehicle.

Expired Plates, Dec. 31 - Police was stopped by police for driving with expired license plates. After talking with the driver, officers determined the driver was also operating a car with a suspended license.

Disorderly Conduct, Dec. 31 - A man was arrested after he got into a fight at Benihana's, 23611 Chagrin Boulevard.

OVI, Dec. 31 - After taking an illegal left turn, officers stopped a male driver. They quickly discovered that the man was driving under the influence of alcohol and removed an open container of beer from his car.

Menacing, Jan. 1 - A male employee at Beachwood Place Mall, 26300 Cedar Road, reported that a male colleague was harassing him.

OVI, Jan. 1 - A juvenile female was cited for drinking and driving and underage drinking on New Year's Day. The girl tried to avoid a traffic stop by changing direction on a road, attracting the attention of police.
