Passed Out Driver Cited For Marijuana In Beachwood

The driver was asleep in the backseat of a running car on Halburton Road when police spotted them.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Police were busy over the weekend. Beachwood Cemetery had a sign post destroyed, someone vandalized a car on Commerce Park, and a passed out driver got cited for marijuana possession. Read on for more information on each incident.

Damaging Property, May 19 - A man drove his car into a sign post at Beachwood Cemetery, 23001 Halburton Rd. The post broke and the man drove off without stopping.

Shoplifting, May 19 - Eyeglass frames were stolen from Lens Crafters at Beachwood Place Mall, 26300 Cedar Rd. Police say an unidentified female committed the theft. The frames are worth approximately $2,600.

Vandalism, May 20 - Someone vandalized a vehicle parked at Designer Accents, 23880 Commerce Park.

Disturbance, May 20 - Two people got into a heated argument at the Village Guard Shack on Saturday. Police spoke to both parties and had them leave the premises.

Trespassing, May 20 - Police arrested an adult man for trespassing at Saks Fifth Avenue, 26100 Cedar Rd.

Shoplifting, May 21 - A juvenile male was arrested for shoplifting from Dillard's at Beachwood Place Mall.

Marijuana Possession, May 21 - While out on patrol, an officer spotted a car that was running and appeared to be unoccupied on Halburton Road. When the officer got closer, he saw the driver was asleep in the backseat of the vehicle. There were burnt marijuana cigarettes in the ashtray of the car, so the officer woke the sleeper up and cited them for marijuana possession.
