Look Inside Beachwood's New Public Safety Center

The building is also a fire station, so of course there were Dalmatians. Lots and lots of Dalmatians.

BEACHWOOD, OH — The city's new Public Safety Center opened on Sunday, on a day full of tours, dalmatians and more. The facility will house both Beachwood's Dispatch Center and serve as a firehouse and training center for emergency personnel. There is also a September 11, 2001 memorial inside the complex.

The construction of the Public Safety Center can trace its roots back to 1999. That's when the city of Beachwood purchased a parcel of land at Richmond Road and Park East Drive. In 2008, conversations began in earnest on building a new fire station in the city.

In 2012, a committee was formed to determine requirements for a new firehouse, and what best practices should be implemented. In 2017, ground was broken on the Public Safety Center. Then, on August 26, 2018, the facility opened.

Besides housing firefighters and training sites, the facility will also house both Beachwood and Pepper Pike dispatch units. Moving dispatch to the Public Safety Center, instead of renovating a space at Beachwood's Municipal Complex, saved the city an estimated $1 million.
