Restaurant Patron Accidentally Steals Car: Beachwood Police Blotter

The man took the wrong car from a valet service and was nearly arrested for motor vehicle theft.

BEACHWOOD, OH -

Found Property, Nov. 14 - Staff at the Clarion Hotel, 26300 Chagrin Boulevard, found a clear plastic baggie on the floor in front of the check-in counter. The bag was filled with 676 grams of an unidentified white powder.

Theft, Nov. 14 - A juvenile female reported that her wallet had been stolen from Beachwood High School, 25100 Fairmount Boulevard. Inside the wallet was cash, the girl's license, and a debit gift card. She estimates that the total of the lost goods amounts to $115.

Shoplifting, Nov. 15 - An adult woman was arrested for stealing merchandise from H&M at Beachwood Place Mall, 26300 Cedar Road. When officers searched the woman they found she had also stolen merchandise from American Eagle Outfitters. The total value of her stolen goods about $138.

Marijuana Possession, Nov. 15 - A man was cited for smoking a marijuana cigarette in the parking lot of Saks 5th Avenue, 26100 Cedar Road.

Hit Skip, Nov. 17 - After a traffic collision in the parking lot of Advantage Diagnostics, 3733 Park East, one of the drivers fled the area. The woman who remained filed the report with police.

Theft from Building, Nov. 17 - Someone stole a resident's laundry basket from the Deville Apartments South, 23305 Chagrin Boulevard.

General Assistance, Nov. 17 - A man reported that his vehicle was stolen from the Moxie Restaurant, 3355 Richmond Road. He believed someone had snagged the keys to the car from the valet box and made off with it. Police located the car shortly after and figured out that another patron of Moxie's had taken the car by mistake. The vehicle was returned to its owner without incident.

Shoplifting, Nov. 18 - A man was arrested for stealing a pair of $3.99 socks from H&M. Again, the socks cost all of $3.99.

Theft, Nov. 19 - A cash register was stolen from Beachwood Place Mall overnight. Police say the register only had coins in it and the thief only got away with about $30.
