Scammed Man Tries To Deposit Stolen Check: Beachwood Police
The victim of a scam tried to deposit a stolen check at Huntington Bank in Beachwood and nearly got himself arrested.

BEACHWOOD, OH — The victim of a scam nearly got himself arrested this week in Beachwood. The man tried to deposit a stolen check at a local bank and was busted by bank security. License Suspension, July 31 — Police stopped a man for speeding on Fairmount Boulevard. The man had a suspended license and was arrested. He is being held on a $5,000 Shaker Heights Municipal Court bond.
Identity Theft, July 31 — A Beachwood man came to the police department to report that his identity had been stolen.

Improper Handling of a Firearm, July 31 — Police stopped a man for speeding on Richmond Road, near Twickenham Drive. The man had a gun inside of the car and was charged for mishandling it.
Shoplifting, July 31 — A man was arrested for stealing four articles of clothing from Dillard's, 26500 Cedar Rd. The items were valued at $173.50. The man was also in possession of a stolen bottle of cologne from Nordstrom's. The cologne was worth $118.

Suspicion, July 31 — A patron at Huntington Bank, 24615 Chagrin Blvd., came to the Beachwood branch with a stolen check. Police determined the patron was actually the victim of a scam that occurred in Warrensville Heights. The man was told to go to the Warrensville Police Department and file a police report.
Suspicious Person, July 31 — Police arrested a man at the Green Road Synagogue on an active warrant out of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office.
Shoplifting, July 31 — A man shoplifted $269 worth of merchandise from Dillard's. When police tried to stop the man, he fled south on I-271.
Suspicion, Aug. 1 — A resident on Farnsleigh Road suspects someone of illegally dumping on a vacant property on the street.
OVI, Aug. 2 — Police arrested a woman on I-271 for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Theft form Building, Aug. 2 — Multiple bank deposits were not made for Sperry Top Spider, the store reports. The missing deposits are worth $3,150.
Fraud, Aug. 2 — Crestmont Cadillac received a check for $500 for work done on a woman's vehicle. Unfortunately, the woman was charged more than $500 for the work. Police took a report on the matter.
Drug Paraphernalia Possession, Aug. 2 — Officers stopped a man on Shaker Boulevard for driving recklessly. The man had drug paraphernalia in the vehicle and was arrested.
