The staff of the Oculus also presented the 2011 edition of the Beachwood yearbook to the board, which celebrated a changing of the guard from adviser Patsy Morrison to Sarah Thrasher. Thrasher will assume the role starting next fall.
Beachwood principal Bob Hardis recognized the Oculus editors-in-chief Shira Baron and Lilly Lash with an award from the mayor’s office proclaiming Friday, June 3, 2011, as “Oculus Editor-in-Chief Day,” recognizing the two editors for their hard work in putting together the Oculus. Mayor Merle Gorden did not present the award at the senior awards assembly because of a scheduling conflict.
