Shoplifter Damages Police Cruiser In Beachwood

Officers arrested a woman for stealing merchandise from the Pink store at the mall. She didn't handle it well.

BEACHWOOD, OH — A woman was charged with vandalism after she damaged a police cruiser on Friday night. Officers took the woman into custody after she was caught stealing more than $340 of merchandise from the Pink store at Beachwood Place Mall. The woman didn't handle the arrest well, damaging the police cruiser when officers transported her to jail.

Police found a knife in the woman's possession and charged her for carrying a concealed weapon (a misdemeanor) and for lying to police about her identity. Beachwood Police did not say how exactly the police cruiser was damaged.

Shoplifting, May 18 — Police arrested a man for shoplifting $198 of merchandise from Dillard's at Beachwood Place Mall. He was also charged for receiving stolen property because police found a necktie worth about $40.

Possession of Marijuana, May 18 — A man was arrested at Beachwood Place Mall for having what police suspect was marijuana in his possession. The man was also charged for stealing $255 of merchandise from Dillard's.

Warrant Served, May 18 — Paying fines to the Beachwood Police Department led to the arrest of a woman on Friday. The woman came to the station to settle up and then officers found she had an active warrant for her arrest in Walton Hills. She was taken into custody and transferred to Walton Hills Police.

Shoplifting, May 19 — A woman stole $140 of merchandise from Locker Room by Lids at Beachwood Place Mall. Police have not yet been able to identify the woman.

Suspicion, May 19 — A Richmond Road resident reported that a woman rang her doorbell and then looked through the resident's blinds. The resident does not know who the woman was.

Driving Under the Influence of Liquor, May 19 — Several callers dialed 911 about an erratic driver on I-271 south. Police caught up to the vehicle and saw it drift in and out of lanes. The driver was determined to be intoxicated and arrested.

Physical Control of a Vehicle, May 19 — Police were called to the Hyde Park Grille where they found a man passed out behind the wheel of his car, according to a police report. The man was arrested after officers deterimined he was intoxicated.

Receiving Stolen Property, May 20 — A woman was arrested for stealing $270 of merchandise from Dillard's. Police then found more than $1,000 of stolen goods in the woman's car.
