Shoplifters Haunt Beachwood Place Mall Stores

BEACHWOOD, OH — Police and security at the mall have continued to make a concerted effort to catch shoplifters at Dillard's and Beachwood Place Mall. Read on for more information on this week's slate of police incidents.

OVI, June 26 - Police arrested a woman for driving erratically on Chagrin Boulevard. She was subsequently arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Suspicion, June 26 - Two women staying at the Hotel Indigo, 3581 Park East, said a man had stolen money and a cell phone from their room. However, police located both the missing cash and phone and received conflicting stories from the women and the man in question, so none of the parties were charged.

Shoplifting, June 26 - Two adult men were arrested for shoplifting from Dillard's, 26500 Cedar Rd.

Theft from Auto, June 26 - A wallet and car keys were stolen from a patron at Lifetime Fitness, 3850 Richmond Rd.

Damaged Property, June 26 - A driver on Park East drove over a loose sewer lid. The driver's car was damaged as a result.

Shoplifting, June 26 - Two women were arrested for shoplifting $396.47 of merchandise from Dillard's.

Annoying Phone Calls, June 27 - A Beachwood woman called police to report that her ex-husband is sending defamatory emails to her family members.

Suspicion, June 27 - A teenager reportedly made an inappropriate comment to a 10-year-old girl.

Suspicion, June 28 - A local hotel reported a domestic dispute getting out of control on its premises. When police arrived, the parties involved had fled the scene, so a suspicion report was taken.

Suspicion, June 28 - A young boy got inside a Beachwood resident's car and started playing. No damage or theft was reported.

Shoplifting, June 29 - A man was arrested for stealing $590 of merchandise from Saks Fifth Avenue, at Beachwood Place Mall, 26100 Cedar Rd.
