Shoplifters Target Sephora At Beachwood Mall

Police had a busy weekend, reining in shoplifters and dealing with a bevy of strange incidents.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Cosmetics are apparently a hot commodity, because several shoplifters attempted to get a five finger discount while shopping at Sephora over the weekend. Shoplifting, July 7 - Shoplifting is occasionally a strange crime. Some people pluck items and run out of need, others to sell the product later at a profit. A few steal just for the thrill of it. On Friday, a woman stole $1.98 worth of items from a BP Gas Station, 25705 Chagrin Blvd. Police say the woman has not yet been identified.

Warrant Served, July 7 - A man was arrested at Cleveland City Jail for an outstanding warrant out of Beachwood.

Shoplifting, July 7 - Two juveniles were caught shoplifting from Sephora at Beachwood Place Mall, 26300 Cedar Rd. The pair were attempting to steal $126 worth of merchandise from the cosmetics store.

Theft from Building, July 7 - About $200 cash was stolen from an employee's purse at Petco, 24001 Chagrin Blvd. Police say the theft was committed by a man that gained access to the store manager's office.

Suspicion, July 7 - A small bag of marijuana was found in a returned rental car. The vehicle was returned to Hertz Car Rental, 3663 Park East.

OVI, July 7 - Police arrested a man for operating a vehicle while intoxicated. The man was driving erratically near Eaton Blvd.

Suspicion, July 7 - A woman reported that her estranged husband approached her and then threatened her while she was at Beachwood Public Library, 25501 Shaker Blvd.

Shoplifting, July 7 - Two men were arrested for shoplifting from Dillard's, 26500 Cedar Rd. During their arrest, one of the men tried to fight officers, and injured one cop. A resisting arrest charge will be added to his offenses.

Disturbance, July 7 - Police were called to Lyndway Road for reports of an out-of-control argument between a mother and adult son. Officers were able to resolve the situation.

Identity Theft, July 8 - Someone attempted to open six credit cards in a Beachwood resident's name.

Shoplifting, July 8 - A woman was arrested for shoplifting and receiving stolen property from Sephora at Beachwood Place Mall. The merchandise recovered by police is valued at $229.88.

Improper Display of License Plates, July 9 - Police stopped a car on Cedar Road for incorrectly displaying its license plates. The driver had an active arrest warrant through the U.S. Marshals. The owner of the vehicle, who was riding in the passenger seat, also had an active arrest warrant through Westlake.

Shoplifting, July 9 - A woman was arrested for shoplifting from Sephora. She attempted to steal $154 of merchandise.
