Shoplifters, Weed Smokers Busted At Beachwood Mall

BEACHWOOD, OH — Police busted several shoplifters and weed smokers this week at Beachwood Place Mall. A mall employee was also busted taking part in a $2,000 fraud scheme. Read more about those crimes and others from the past week below.

License Suspension, Jan. 15 — Police stopped a car near Signature Square for lane violations. The driver had a suspended license and was arrested.

Shoplifting, Jan. 15 — A woman attempted to hide a pair of jeans on her body and then walk out of Dillard's without paying, police say. The jeans were worth $109. When the woman was confronted, police found four other articles of clothing, worth a total of $219. The woman has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property.

Snow Complaint, Jan. 16 — A Beachwood company has asked police to keep their former snow removal contractor from coming onto the business' property.

Simple Assault, Jan. 16 — A male patient hit a female nurse at Ahuja Medical Center. The nurse wanted the incident documented.

License Suspension, Jan. 16 — Police stopped a car on Richmond Road because the registered driver had a suspended license. The driver was cited for driving with the suspended license and the front seat passenger was arrested on a warrant from Highland Hills Police.

Theft by Deception, Jan. 17 — An employee of Dillard's was arrested for helping carry out fake returns. The woman racked up nearly $2,000 in the scam.

Possession of Marijuana, Jan. 17 — Officers stopped a car for driving with fake registration tags. The driver had a suspended license and police found marijuana in his possession. He was arrested.

Shoplifting, Jan. 18 — Police arrested two people for shoplifting at Beachwood Place Mall, a juvenile and an adult woman.

Possession of Marijuana, Jan. 18 — Officers cited a woman for possession of marijuana after she was found to be smoking weed in her car outside Beachwood Place Mall.
