Swenson's Opening Jan. 8 In University Heights
The restaurant asked the community if it was "ready?"

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, OH — Swenson's first restaurant on Northeast Ohio's east side will open Jan. 8, the restaurant announced on Twitter. The iconic burger joint quipped on social media, wondering if residents were "ready?"
Located on Cedar Road, between South Green and Fernway, the restaurant is Swenson's second Cuyahoga County restaurant. The first is located in Seven Hills, a long commute for east siders craving a Galley Boy.
The ball started rolling on the new Swenson's location in May, when the restaurant brought site plans to University Heights city council. By late June, the plans had been approved and residents began celebrating. University Heights Mayor Susan Infeld even joked that residents were literally jumping for joy.

The restaurant originally hoped to open before the end of the year, but will instead open the second week of January.
Swenson's will have eight Northeast Ohio locations when its University Heights site opens. Most of its locations are centered around the Akron area. The new location will maintain the chain's throwback look and feel, with cars pulling into the lot and servers coming out to meet them.
