Thief Shoplifts 43 Lighters From Beachwood Store

The thief tried to shoplift the armful of lighters from a local store but he didn't get very far.

BEACHWOOD, OH — A local store was almost the site of a very strange shoplifting crime over the weekend. A thief tried to snatch 43 lighters from a local store. Read on for information on that incident and others from the weekend.

Suspicion, May 26 - A Beachwood resident came to the police station and reported that she believed her ex-boyfriend was following her.

Driving Under Suspension, May 26 - Police arrested a woman for driving with a suspended license and expired license plates.

Animal At-Large, May 26 - A loose dog was seen running around in the area of South Woodland Road. Officers were unable to corral the animal, but the pooch's collar was recovered.

Fraud, May 26 - Someone listed a Beachwood resident's home for sale on Craigslist. The resident reported the fraud to the police on Friday.

Damaged Property, May 26 - A pot hole on Geo Zeiger Drive damaged the front right side of a motorists' car.

Shoplifting, May 27 - A man badly needed some lighters on Saturday. He stole 43 Bic lighters, valued together at $102.77, from the Unimart, 25705 Chagrin Blvd. He didn't get far and was arrested by police.

Marijuana Possession, May 28 - An officer found a car full of people smoking marijuana in the parking lot of Embassy Suites, 3775 Park East. One man was arrested for possession of marijuana.
