Tree Replacement To Slow Traffic Near I-271 In Beachwood
Landscapers are replacing 36 trees that were stripped out last year during a gas main replacement.

BEACHWOOD, OH — Pedestrians and drivers going past the Fairmount Median, near I-271 and Ramsay Road, may have noticed something green happening on Wednesday. Crews from Andrew Landscaping were busily planting a collection of trees on the median.
Last year, contractors from Dominion Gas removed 36 trees from the median to make room for a gas main replacement. When construction was finished, it left the area without some of its trees. Now workers are adding some green to the area.
The city said that a variety of trees will be planted. Among the trees being added to the median are Purple Robe Locust, Chinese Lacebark Elm, River Birch, London Planetree and Bald Cypress. All are expected to bloom this Spring.

Meanwhile, drivers may want to avoid the area through the end of the week. Planting will likely be completed by April 6 at the end of the day.
