Wrongway Driver Flees Police In Beachwood

Police found 75 grams of marijuana and a loaded gun in the suspect's car.

BEACHWOOD, OH — A wrongway driver jumped out of his car and ran from police on Monday night. When officers searched his car they found 75 grams of marijuana and a loaded handgun.

Police cast a wide net to find the fleeing suspect. The man had been driving the wrong way on Shaker Boulevard before swerving onto Richmond Road and jumping out of his car. He eluded police for a while, leaving officers to search the man's car and find the marijuana and gun.

Officers searched the area extensively and eventually located the suspect. He was arrested and is being charged with improper handling of a firearm, possession of marijuana and more.

Theft of Parts of Vehicles, Dec. 11 — Another catalytic converter was stolen from a company car. This time the company was Buy Rite Office Products on Mercantile Road.

Shoplifting, Dec. 11 — A woman and a girl were arrested for shoplifting $336 of merchandise from Dillard's, 26500 Cedar Rd.

Suspicious Phone Calls, Dec. 12 — Someone made a suspicious phone call to a resident on Buckhurst Drive.

Shoplifting, Dec. 12 — An unidentified man stole four pairs of sunglasses from Saks Fifth Avenue on Tuesday. The combined value of the sunglasses was $1,725.

Criminal Damage, Dec. 12 — Someone damaged a door on Wendover Drive.

Theft from Building, Dec. 14 — About $300 of electrical equipment was stolen from a business on Highpoint Road.

Shoplifting, Dec. 14 — A couple, a man and a woman, were arrested for stealing nearly $300 of merchandise from Dillard's.
