5 Things You Need to Know This Week, Aug. 15 – 21

From theater auditions to historical programs, there's plenty going on this week in and around Brecksville.

  1. City Council meets at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. According to the agenda, council will present the 2011 Beautification Committee awards. 
  2. If the summer weather has you wishing for spring or fall, this week’s "Travelin’ Tuesdays" program at the might be for you. According to the library’s website, a nature photographer will share photos from all of Northeast Ohio's different seasons. The program begins at 2 p.m.
  3. And on Thursday, local historian Cathie Clager will give a presentation on Brecksville’s veterans and their families from the Spanish American War to today, according to the library's website. Clager has been giving at the library this year in honor of the city’s bicentennial. The program begins at 7 p.m. and registration is required. 
  4. Auditions for ’s production of Annie will take place this weekend. According to the theater's website, auditions will be at 2 p.m. Saturday for children 6 to 9, at 4 p.m. Saturday for children 10 to 15 and at 2 p.m. Sunday for anyone 16 and older. 
  5. There will be a Civil War reenactment in Broadview Heights this weekend, according to the city’s website. There will also be activities for kids and an 1800s-style baseball game. Admission is free.
