Catherine Sturik, a political science major from Brecksville at Miami University in Oxford, was presented with the Howard White Award by Miami's political science department for excelling in scholarship and leadership.
Miami's political science department held its annual recognition ceremony for outstanding juniors and seniors April 14 in the lobby of Harrison Hall.
Participating in the ceremony was Darrell West (Miami '76), a former award recipient, currently vice president and director of governance studies at the Brookings Institution in Washington. After the presentation of awards, West gave a talk on "Obama, the Republicans, and the Tea Party."
