An awards ceremony was held at the C.C. Animal Shelter the evening of 12/14 for the 10 winners of the 1st annual Cuyahoga County Top Dog essay contest. Brecksville's Courtni Began took 1st place for the 4th grade non-dog owner division. She wrote about her cousin's dog, Boo-Boo, a regular at family parties.
Courtni is a student at Central School. Her teacher is Mrs. Jagielo. She graciously attended the event to see Courtni accept her award and gift.
The contest was open to students in the county, grades 1-5 this fall. The #1 license tag for the year 2012 was presented to the winner of the dog-owner essayist that night. Courtni was also given a certificate stating special permission to have a K-9 visit for her entire school sometime in the future. Congratulations to Courtni !
