City to Conduct Written Exam for Police Officers

Brecksville will conduct the written examination for police officers on Thursday, June 9 at 6 p.m. Applicants must be in excellent physical condition, a U.S. citizen, have a valid driver's license, between the ages of 21 and 35 years old, and a high school graduate, or hold a GED certificate. Candidates must also possess an honorable discharge from military service, or an associate's degree. The Civic Service Commission also requires applicants to pass psychological, fitness and medical tests.

Application forms are available at between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until May 13. Afterward, the first 200 completed applications will be accepted at City Hall between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. from May 16 to 20 and May 23 to 27. Applications must be completely filled out, signed, notarized and include copies of a high school diploma, birth certificate, current driver's license and an associate's degree or honorable discharge papers. A nonrefundable testing fee of $30 of cash, money order or cashier's check must be made to the city of Brecksville.
