Revere Junior Elected SkillsUSA President for State of Ohio, will Represent 30,000 Members
BRECKSVILLE, OHIO – Cuyahoga Valley Career Center is pleased to announce that junior Elizabeth Davis from Revere was elected to a one-year presidency of the Ohio chapter of SkillsUSA, an organization promoting skills competition among career-technical students. “Lizzie” is enrolled in the Engineering Technology program at CVCC.
According to CVCC SkillsUSA Coordinator Julie Jakubczak, Lizzie, in her capacity as president, will work with national and state leaders in education, government and industry and lobby at the state and national levels for career and technical education.

“This is a life-changing event for Lizzie and an amazing opportunity afforded to career and technical students,” said Mrs. Jakubczak. “She is the face of CT education in the state for the next year and will represent 30,000 members of Ohio SkillsUSA.”
In addition, Lizzie will be trained with organizational, public speaking and presentation skills that may students are not afforded the opportunity experience until they enter the workforce, said Mrs. Jakubczak.

The Ohio Association of SkillsUSA is a career-technical student organization serving students in high school and college post-secondary industrial engineering/health career training programs in Ohio and is affiliated with the national SkillsUSA. To be elected to an office, candidates must pass a state-qualifying exam, be a SkillsUSA member, register for the conference as an office candidate and attend the conference where they will address peer members who are state voting delegates.
SkillsUSA Ohio Director Mike Cowles congratulated CVCC on Lizzie’s presidency: “We are very excited to have Lizzie join our team.”
