The Brecksville-Broadview Heights school district is embracing technology.

And this fall, they took on Facebook.

Parents want information to come to them, Cathy Harbinak said during at the . Harbinak, the district's coordinator of community relations, gave members of the Board of Education an overview of some of the different ways the district is reaching out to parents and other members of the community.

The district has a variety of communication goals for the year, helping the district connect with the community and online.

One of the technology-related suggestions the Communications Advisory Committee had for the district was to make use of social media. The committee is made up of community members—many who work with technology—and parents.

The district has one Facebook account that Harbinak said has been used to share news on things like accomplishments and meeting times. The district also has Twitter accounts—one for the district, one for the high school and one for the transportation department—that share similar news.

And the district isn't done evolving yet. Suggestions for ways the schools can reach the community better should be sent to Harbinak.
