Brecksville-Broadview Heights Superintendent Responds to Connecticut Shooting: 'We are Deeply Saddened'

Superintendent Scot Prebles emailed the following statement to Patch regardingΒ the shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut on Friday:
βWe are deeply saddened by this news and extend sympathies and prayers to all of the families who are impacted by this tragic event.Β
Upon hearing the news of today's event all building administrators were contacted toΒ verify that they were aware of the tragedy. StaffΒ members were reminded, as always, to comply with existing safety and securityΒ protocolΒ and to remain on high alert through the remainder of the day. AllΒ BBHCSD building entrances are locked daily, accompaniedΒ by video surveillance and buzzer-required systems for public entrance. Identification is required toΒ access parts of the buildingΒ beyond the office. All visitors are required to wear visitor identification badges.

All principalsΒ will facilitateΒ emergency "safety and security" staff meetingsΒ this afternoon. It is during these meetings safety and security measures will beΒ reviewed and procedures to assist studentsΒ in need of special support when they return Monday. All buildings will be on high alert through the remainder of next week.β
