Brecksville Center for the Arts Looking for Artists for Heartfelt Holiday 2011
Artists who want to sell their work as part of the juried show are encouraged to apply soon.

The is looking for artists to be part of its 2011 Heartfelt Holiday fundraiser in November.Β
The fundraiser benefits the center, which offers affordable art programs for residents of the city and nearby communities, said Denise Schier, vice president of the centerβs board of trustees and the chairperson for the fundraiser.
It also serves as a way for the community to buy high quality art and gives local artists a place to sell their work, she said.

βItβs a win-win type of event,β Schier said.
The show is juried, so interested artists must apply to take part. According to information on the Brecksville Center for the Arts website, the art will be judged on merits like quality and creativity.Β

Typically, about 65 artists sell their work at the event, Schier said. The center accepts a variety of art, from paintings to sculptures to jewelry, and thereβs a variety of different booth sizes artists can choose from. The prices for each booth are listed on the centerβs website, and the βCall for Entry Brochureβ notes that anyone whose work is not accepted for the show will receive a refund. Β
Schier said the artists receive all of the profits from their sales. Artists can also submit work to be sold in a consignment area, rather than at a booth, and the center will get a commission from those sales.Β Artists who apply for a booth will also have to donate an item for the event's raffle, but it's optional for those who choose to sell their work at the consignment area, according to the brochure.
Artists are encouraged to register as soon as possible, Schier said, and the application notes that jewelry vendors should apply by Aug. 1.
