Brecksville City Council Appoints New Police Dispatcher

The department has made a number of changes this year.

Brecksville City Council Tuesday night approved the appointment of Chester J. Ashton as a new dispatcher in the .

Ashton brings years of experience to the department. Mayor Jerry N. Hruby said during the meeting that the Brecksville resident is a retiree from the Cleveland Fire Department, where he served as a battalion chief.

“We just think he’s going to be a wonderful addition,” Hruby said.

Ashton is just one of a few recent additions or promotions in the Police Department. During the past couple of months, council has approved the appointment of two police sergeants and, now, two dispatchers. They appointed a new chief in April after at the beginning of the year.
