Brecksville Florist Prepares for Valentine's Day

Brecksville residents can stop by their neighborhood florist for those last-minute Valentine's Day gifts.

With Valentine's Day approaching soon, the staff at  is working hard to provide a one-stop shop for this special occasion.

"During Valentine's Day, we work late and work overtime to ensure all floral arrangements are ready on-time," said owner Patricia Penland.

Brecksville Florist first opened its doors in 1952, and Penland has owned and run it since September 2009. Penland said they contribute their longevity to their top-notch designers and a wealth of industry experience. Their location is also a plus.

"Brecksville Florist is the only floral shop in the community," Penland said. "The location is central to everyone in Brecksville and easy to locate."

But customers don't necessarily have to locate Brecksville Florist if they want to place an order. The store takes phone orders and hand-makes and hand-delivers their floral arrangements. And patrons don't have to worry about those arrangements being shipped and wrapped in brown paper.

"We apply a personal touch to our orders," said lead floral designer, Susie Hayes.

When asked what flower is typically their best seller for this time of the year, both Hayes and Penland agreed that red roses are at the top.

But for customers who want something a bit different, the store also has several dedicated arrangements for :

  • "A Dozen Premium Red Roses," the classic best seller, includes a dozen long-stemmed, red roses arranged in a glass vase. That arrangement starts at $95.00.
  • The "How Sweet It Is" arrangement is vibrantly designed in a clear vase with light orange roses, orange spray roses, hot pink carnations, matsumoto asters and red miniature carnations. The sale price is $34.99.
  • "Hugs and Kisses" is set in a lovely red vase with daisies, chrysanthemums, carnations and roses. Its sale price is $35.99.
